Academic Overview
Houston Radiology Associated (HRA) provides detection, diagnostic and therapeutic care at Houston Methodist and its affiliated hospitals. Additionally, HRA academic radiologists are involved in cutting edge research and education within the Methodist System and Methodist Research Institute. Beyond professional services and in collaboration with Houston Methodist Department of Radiology, HRA established a radiology residency program and a physics program. The Radiology Residency program at Houston Methodist provides a supportive and rigorous environment for residents to learn and develop their clinical skills. The physics program is charged with standardizing and improving image quality in diagnostic x-ray, CT and MRI, improving radiation safety and monitoring, and establishing calibration and maintenance standards of imaging equipment. HRA also provides Houston Methodist a methodology for review and purchase of imaging equipment and oversees upgrades of imaging technology and review of new building out of imaging suites to enhance the patient experience and safety.
Research & Innovation
The Department of Radiology research program evaluates the role of imaging (including chest radiographs, CT and PET/CT) in lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. You can learn more about some of the cutting-edge Imaging and Radiology research currently taking place at Houston Methodist here:
